Welcome to St. Lucia.   We could see the famous "Pitons" as we approached from the south.
The captain goes up the mast to make some repairs.
Carapan seems to be shrinking as we start to encounter larger yachts on our way north.
At Rodney Bay Marina we met Steve, Lisa (not kidding) and Kelsey.   They are from Washington State and plan to spend 2 years in the Caribbean.
Emma and Kelsey exploring Pidgeon Island Reserve.
Jambe de Bois restaurant.   Great rotis.   This was the home of a famous pirate.
Babysitters are hard to find....
The view from signal hill on Pigeon Island.   You can see the Pitons to the south and Martinique to the north.   The British Navy built a fort here to protect the bay from the French in the 1700's.
A sailboat in the ARC regatta rounding Pigeon Island as they finish their 2 week trip across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands.   Some 150 ARC boats arrived while we were in Rodney Bay.   Big Party!
Mustang lost most of her mast mid-atlantic and managed to limp into St. Lucia with a jury rig.
The last ARC boat finally arrives December 21st.   They lost their rudder after hitting a whale. They looked very happy to be on dry land!
Ben and Steve check out the geocache that we found hidden on Pigeon Island.   Geocaching is like modern day treasure hunting with a GPS.   Geocache sites can be found on www.geocaching.com.
Lisa, Emma and Kelsey make some gingerbread cookies for Christmas.
A cozy birthday party for Lisa with Grandpa Will & Grandma Jean.
The Stockings were hung by the mast with care,
in hopes that st. Nicholas soon would be there. (We have had to send him our Lat/Long just in case)
Grandpa Will takes the helm.
The local kids are off school for a 3 week Christmas break.
Ben conquers the St. Lucia Golf & Country Club.
Lisa and Emma at the Botanical Gardens.
On our tour of the island we saw the rainforest, an active volcano and sulphur springs.   Here you can see St. Lucia's famous Pitons in the background.
Our next stop is Martinique for Christmas.
