After a 4 hour sail from St. Thomas we arrived on the beautiful island of Culebra in the Spanish Virgin Islands. It has one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean - Playa Flamenco. 4 miles of white sand and no hotels. There are great waves for bodysurfing.
Jill (Delilah), Jamie & Forbes (Indra) and Kim (Amanzi) waiting in Culebra for the Ferry to Fajardo. We hired two vans to drive us to Old San Juan for the day. (We also hit Wal Mart which gave us a bit of culture shock!)
Old San Juan is definitely worth a visit. Museums, art galleries and tree lined squares add lots of character.
We stopped at a roadside "snackbar" for some local food on the way back to Fajardo. We weren't sure what we were eating but it tasted great! (the kids passed).
On April 7th said goodbye to Amanzi (they are going to Cuba) and we headed 20 miles west to Cayo Obispo and loaded up with water and fuel. The next morning we pulled up anchor and followed Indra and Delilah around the north coast of Peurto Rico. They are carrying on to the Turks & Caicos. We had a 330 mile passage ahead of us to the Dominican Republic. See you there.
